Happy 4th of July!

Why can they not all smile at the SAME TIME?!?!?

We headed up to Rantoul today for their 4th of July festivities. The kids LOVED the parade and came home with two bags full of candy...mainly tootsie rolls. We went over to Moie & Papaw's house afterwards for lunch and lots of playing outside. And can I just say, it is STINKIN' difficult getting these four kiddos to pose for any pictures!

Bucket List #5 - Run a 5K

Ok....so maybe running a 5K was never on my bucket list...
and maybe I don't really even have a bucket list...
BUT-- I did RUN ONE!!

My sweet sister-in-law talked me into running a 5K, so for the past 6 weeks I've been doing the Couch to 5K. Problem is... the C2-5K is a 9 week program.... I somehow managed to run the WHOLE thing in 35 minutes and 4 seconds. I was scheduled to run 25 minutes that day on the program, so I set my goal as at least doing that, and then walking afterwards. But, I somehow managed to push through it! I'm glad I did it, it was fun! Felt like jell-o afterwards, but it was good. And gotta say... I like running. I'm finally starting to see real results from it, too! (which is very exciting!) These are only some of the shots TJ got for me pre-race. My mom hopefully has some more I can post later. TJ & the kids didn't even get to see me finish due to some bounce house drama... gotta love those bounce houses!

Jillian - Future Stunt Woman

Do you know this sweet girl?

Well, let me introduce you... this here is Jillian, my little stunt girl!
She has her game face on, ready to show you her latest tricks!

We can drive standing up...

We can drive while facing backwards...

We can drive facing sideways...

We can even drive with ONE leg!!!

And now for the dismount!

And to end this post... they ended up getting ALL their outside toys out, and I overhear Brock say to Jillian, "Hey honey, you want to drive the new trike?" I about fell over it was so stinkin' cute and funny!

VBS Week 2 - The Good Samaritan

This week's parable was on The Good Samaritan. The kids got to make these cute little First-Aid boxes and filled them with all the necessities you would need in coming to someone's aid. They were so cute! I went out for a run after church and when I came home, Brock was covered in all his band-aids! Such a little goob. I should have had a picture of that!

That's My Boy

Tonight on our way home from Gifford's fireworks, Brock says to me, "Mama, my yawn WON'T go away!" It was too cute! He is one tuckered out little guy. Too much swimming and playing and not enough napping!

VBS 2010 - The Parables

Last night was our first week of VBS. They are doing it a bit differently this year and doing it on Wednesday nights for six weeks instead of a solid week. This years theme is Jesus' Parables and last night was on the Wise Man/Foolish Man. I was in charge of crafts for this week and was a bit adventurous taking on making graham cracker houses. It went amazingly well. The little kids actually did better than the older kids! They had such a good time and I wish I had a video of Jillian singing The Wise Man Built His House Upon the Rock song, it was so stinkin' precious. We're looking forward to next week with the parable on the Good Samaritan.

Play It Safe

Are they not just the sweetest little things you ever did see??

Learning about boat safety.

(Jillian doing her "Who Let the Dogs Out" pant.)

This past weekend my mom, sister, and I took the kids to Carle Hospital's Play It Safe Day. The kids got to go around to different stations and learn about different ways to be safe. They learned about pet safety, gun safety, toxic chemicals, boat safety, bike safety, and even got to tour an ambulance. After doing so many stations you could go jump in the bounce house. Aunt Ashley took one for the team as Jillian and Brock were both a little nervous to go in the inflatable caterpillar that ended with a little slide. Kids kept coming out and coming out....and no Ashley! It was hilarious, by the time she ventured out, she was covered in wet grass and her shorts were soaked! Not to mention her little, sweet cheeks were beet red as it was about hot and muggy that day! So, thanks Aunt Ash, we love ya!

Somersaults!

Jillian in action.
(wearing her big girl panties, I might add!)

Mooner-Mooner :)

And then this is what they did for several minutes tonight, somersaults.
(Do I need to mention what time it was??? Yes, your kids were probably
already in bed having sweet dreams.)

Bubble Monsters

While TJ's been working on the kids' bathroom, they've been able to take advantage of taking a bath in mama and dada's "hot tub." It is such a special treat to them. And those jets produce some serious bubbles!!!! We weren't sure if Jillian looked like she was wearing a helmet or if she had a bubble afro... what do you think???

Randoms...

So, I never really blog about things I'm feeling about my kids on this blog, but it seems so much is running through my head these days that I want to share so I can look back on it and hopefully say either, "Awww!" or "Whew! Glad that phase has passed!" Right now they are both at such a fun age. They play really well, for the most part, together. When they are running around the couch, and Jillian trips and falls over and says to Brock, "Help me! Ayuada me!" (thank you, Dora) and he does and then she thanks him and he tells her your welcome, it just makes my heart happy. Jillian is turning into my Little Miss Sensitive. Right now she's really big into saying, "You happy wit me, Mama? You happy?" And then she'll go on asking if I'm happy with Brock and Dada, and so forth. But I swear, she asks me that a million times a day. And if I say, "No, I'm not" she gets this really sad, pouty face. So, then I have to talk to her and solve the problem, because I can't bear to see her so sad. Brock's thing right now is at bedtime he's started not wanting to go down because he's afraid of monsters. So, he'll want me to lay with him. And, I do. Part of me thinks, just make him lay down! And then the other part of me thinks, ya know, one of these days very soon, he isn't even going to want me in his room. So, I go lay down with him...in his tiny bed...with half my body hanging off, but I love it. What else? Oh, they have been singing a lot lately. Mainly church songs, but there isn't much sweeter than hearing little kids sing Jesus Loves Me. And I guess the most recent thing is I started potty training Jillian today. Last night just out of nowhere, she says she's got to go potty. Usually I say, yeah, ok.... but for some reason I took her into the bathroom, sat her down, and she went! I think I was more excited about it than her! So, we did the big girl panties today and was pretty successful. She had one accident during the morning, but went 3 times on the potty. Then after nap time it was all down hill. She peed her pants twice and never pooped, which is not like her at all! So, it was a bit frustrating. I need more patience. Brock spoiled me. He was so stinkin' easy! But, we'll try again tomorrow! I don't know, I guess that's it... I do love being able to stay home with my kids and cherish the time we have together, but I think I need a mini-vacation so I can appreciate it more. They are wearing me out just a bit. OK, enough of my rambling... back to the cute pics of the little stinkers.
