Bowling & Putt Putt Golfing

To celebrate dry bedtime undies for 2 weeks, we had to CELEBRATE!
During our Texas visit, I picked up an idea from my friend, Jennifer, who keeps a sticker chart for her girls for keeping dry undies.  So, I took a mental note and decided to try it when we got home.  Worked like a CHARM.  They could keep their pull-ups dry, but not consistently, so I finally decided, I'm not buying any more pull-ups and it just happened that they both ran out on the same night, so it made my decision on when to start that much easier.  We cut drinks off at 9:00 and no more baths after 8:30 either.  Had to learn that one the hard way as they LoVe drinking bath water... ick.  Jillian picked bowling as her special reward and Brock picked putt putt golf.  They had so much fun! Now they want to go to Chuck E. Cheese as their next reward, so we've made a deal that they need to keep dry undies for 4 weeks and they're doing GREAT.  And here is what happens when you aren't paying attention while Brock is putting... You get whacked super hard with a golf club.  OUCH!

County Fair Time

We LOVE the fair!
What is not to love about pronto pups, french fries, and lemon shake-ups?
And you can't pass up Pre-School day at the fair where rides are super cheap!
It was so stinkin' hot this day, but you would never know it with how these kids were going from ride to ride. They had an absolute blast!

Demolition Derby Time

One feature in the demolition derby was designated to trucks.  This truck, going in reverse, rammed into another truck and completely flipped over on his side!  It was awesome.  The guy was ok, got out, then all these other guys came out and helped flip the truck back over!  He was able to get it back going and ended up getting 2nd place!  So cool.

Jillian with "the princess," also known as the Fair Queen.

What can I say, we're Demolition Derby junkies.
We look forward to the fair and demo derby every summer!
I don't know what it is about them, but it just so fun to watch a bunch of cars and trucks hit each other.  Plus, it's time hanging out with my family and creating new memories for Brock and Jillian.  I don't think I even need to tell you that Brock LOVED it!  Jillian on the other hand LOVED the cotton candy.

Raminator

The Raminator Monster Truck was at a local car dealership in town to promote the monster truck show at the fair this week, so of course the kids and I, along with my mom and sister, had to go check it out!  It was so cool!  The kids got to climb up in the truck bed and go for a ride around the parking lot.  Very sweet.  It was VERY loud and I felt at times we were going to tip over, I can only imagine how it must be driving one of those in a competition!  The kids LOVED it!

S.E.E. Reuion

It was a South Euless Elementary Reunion over at our friend, Nancy's, house.  She was so sweet to open up her home (and pool!) to all of us so we could hang out and visit.  It was amazing to see all my old teacher friends.  I really made some GREAT friendships while we were in Texas and it was so nice seeing everyone again!  I miss them tons already!!!

Brock seriously thought he was one of the big kids!

 Jillian was tuckered out!

Detour to Uncle Dustin's!

We took a little detour home from Texas through Baton Rouge to go visit my little brother, Dustin, and sister-in-law, Stacy.  We wanted to see their new home and it was amazing and totally worth the extra few hours in the car to be able to visit with them.  They treated us to a fun day in New Orleans on Saturday.  First we had lunch at Parkway Bakery, famous for their po boy's and for hosting President Obama to lunch one time.  Then we headed to their central park where they have a little amusement park set up for kids with all sorts of kiddie rides, and a few adult ones, too.  The kids LOVED it!  The humidity and temps there were killer and Brock and Jillian were super sweaty, but it didn't ruin their fun!  They definitely passed out in the car on the ride back to Baton Rouge!  We played some "bags," where somehow I blew our 17 - 2 lead and ended up losing.  I'm blaming it on the bugs.  We had a great time though, we cooked out and Dustin even made us some homemade milkshakes.  It just stinks that we're 12 hours apart.   The kids LOVED being around their Uncle Dustin & Aunt Stacy!
