Caramel Apples, Apple Donuts, & Goats...

This past Friday we went to the Curtis Orchard for lunch and some fun. Can I just say they have the best chicken salad?? Oh, yum-yum-yummy. The kids had such a fun time running around playing and feeding and petting the goats. I would have to say the highlight for me was the caramel apple and apple donut, though. Oh, my. Pretty sure Brock loved the donut, too, as that is all he had for lunch. We came home with donuts, peaches and yummy honey crisp apples. I'm going to be sad when they are all eaten up!

I seriously look forward to our twice yearly consignment sale here in Champaign!!! It always feels like Christmas when I come home with all my purchases! I found some serious deals at One Week Boutique! Here's a few of them I found tonight... Jillian a like new Gymboree winter coat and boots and Brock a Dash costume. Tell me Jillian does not look like some preppy diva in her winter coat, shorts, and boots. I seriously racked up on pj's for Jillian and dress clothes for Brock. Jillian came out on top with quite a few more outfits, but I'm going back on half price day to look a little harder for Brock. Or maybe I'll just look on Saturday during my volunteer shift! I got Jillian 3 pairs of NEW shoes, brown, blue, and black. They both got snow boots and snow pants because we ARE going sledding this year! Bring on the snow and fall/winter temps! We're ready now!!!!

Now this picture needs a little explaining...

So, every night we get our pull-up on and

our jammies. It's routine. Nothing new.

Well, frequently he decides to be difficult and

not make the putting on of the pull-up and

jammies easy on Mommy. So, I said, "You're

on your own tonight kid." So, here's how he

comes downstairs... with both legs in one

leg hole of the pull-up. He says, "Mom, I don't

think this is right." Ya think, son???

Champaign County Fair Time!

Well, the fair has already come and gone again this summer. I love the fair. I love the food, I love the people watching (we saw some super interesting characters this year!), I love watching my kids' faces while they ride all the rides, but most importantly I love going to the demolition derby with my family. And this year, Brock & Jillian's Aunt Stacy got to experience it with us for the first time, so that was neat! It's tradition. (And I'm all about traditions!) I'm so lucky to have a little boy just as obsessed with big trucks and cars that run into one another as I am...

If you ask him which one was his favorite, it was the green truck and the bumble bee car, which was really just black and yellow. Jillian's of course was the "pank" one, her way of saying pink. During one of the heats Brock looks over at Jillian and says as serious as all get out, "Sissy, YOUR car has a flat tire!" It was so funny, because he was so serious! We had such a fun night, I wish I could say the same thing about my tummy when I got home after devouring a corn dog, french fries, funnel cake and lemon shake-up.... (Hey, it's only once a year, right????)

Let's Play A Game...

So, who can spot all the differences ONE year can make? I'll give ya a second to study the picture before spilling all the answers.... ok, one thousand one...times up! Well, the '09 picture was taken in the evening. The '10 picture was taken in the morning. Lesson learned, if you don't want squinty eyes or your kids' hands in front of their faces for every picture, stick to evening photo sessions. Jillian's looking a little taller, hair a little longer, but still gotta have that white hair bow! Brock is also looking as though he's grown some, even though he is wearing the same shirt as last year. The beach water was much more beautiful last year. No tar balls where we were at, but the water this year was washing up a lovely green color and spitting out lots of yucky algae, which you may notice in the '10 picture there by their hands. But the one thing that stayed the same... they still love each other. (Even if we had to use bribery this year...)
